It's been a long, crazy ride. Let's chill out and make some art!
Hey, I wanted to talk to you about our art space and our story. I hope that you fall in love with this place as much as I have and get to experience the creative hangout haven that I want to see in Easel & Wheel Art Space.
I’ve had a lot of experience in community art education, and it's all great and I'm grateful that it's out there. I wanted more, though, something different. Not for Grandma, not for the kids... there are plenty of those and they’re still great.
Somewhere to dress up a little with a date (clay washes right out, lol). A little funky, a little posh. An artist’s actual studio. Cool furniture and music. Living walls that change and rotate interesting, vibrant artworks. An adult hangout where you can wear a swear word on your T-shirt, and make a bong if you want. Art class doesn’t have to look like a classroom.
I am genuinely thrilled to turn someone on to their creative joy. If my graduate experience enforced anything, it's this: Creative practice is not a luxury. That's backed by loads of research. We need it, it's good for us, and even though society likes to deem who "has it" and who doesn't, we are all creative and capable of making interesting things. Beautiful things.
I hope you'll take a spin through our current offerings and find something you want to try. I bet you'll be great at it with a little coaching, even if you aren't confident about making art. It's my goal to make sure that you have a great time and want to keep at it! Thanks for listening, wish me luck :)
